Welcome to the Peaceful Mind Podcast, a place for creating the peace of mind you need to be the best mom you were created by God to be. If you want to bring more balance, more joy, and more peace to your motherhood, This is the place for you. I'm your host, Certified Life Coach and Catholic Mom, Danielle Thienel.
In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, let's get started. Hello and thank you for being here today. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, doubting yourself, or just needing some encouragement, I'm so glad you're here because today I want to share five promises from God that can bring more peace to your busy mom life.
When you remember to call on them, I just going to want to dive in. I am so excited. I want to share them with you. I hope that this is a podcast that you might even listen to again, take notes [00:01:00] and it's just a reminder, right? That we have a constant companion in Christ, and he has already offered us how to be able to take care of, of the things, the challenges that come up into our lives.
But we have this human brain and this human brain, it's just built in a way that does draw our attention is very easily drawn away, or it's, it's very powerful to help you believe some things that are untrue.
So today I want you to remember that God has made promises to us and when we remember them, when we recall them, when we don't forget them, when we put into place ways to return to them, it can be so powerful to bring us back to that place of peace. Okay, so let's get [00:02:00] started. The first promise ,it comes from Philippians chapter four, verse 13. And I want to add, this is one of my favorites, if not the one and only that I put at the top of my favorite list.
And it says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. As moms, we often face moments where we feel inadequate and definitely when we feel overwhelmed. That is, that was my number one. That was what I felt on a daily basis. That is what my top feeling was, was overwhelmed. And what I want you to see is this promise that he has told us that it is there during our challenging parenting moments.
And it's especially powerful when, let me give you some examples, when your toddler is having their third meltdown of the day it is this promise, I can do all things through Christ who [00:03:00] strengthens me. You can call upon it if you're trying to balance some work deadlines with your family commitments. You will want to remember this promise when you're facing a difficult decision about your child's education or health.
And another example of when this promise is especially powerful is when you feel like you're not doing enough as a mom. You'll want to call on this Philippians 4 13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
The second promise we find in Matthew chapter 11 verse 28. It says, come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. How often do we try to just power through our day power through a day where we're exhausted? Right? Instead of accepting this invitation to rest. Okay, this isn't just about physical rest. It's about finding peace in his [00:04:00] presence, even during our busiest moments. And this scripture He promise us right that he'll give you rest if you come to him and give him your labors.
What are your burdens? If you give it, he promises you if you do that, he will give you rest. And I see this a lot with my coaching clients, right? We often feel guilty about taking time to rest, but remember, even Jesus took time to step away and pray and he did it for longer periods of time. But what I offer my clients and you listeners today is that it doesn't have to be that long, right? We're not going out for 40 days and 40 nights. But this promise that if you go to him, it reminds us that seeking rest isn't selfish. It's actually sacred because it's something he has said to do. And I [00:05:00] do also believe that the self care that step goes right along with this. When you're talking about seeking rest, if you kind of flip that out with seeking self care. Again, I want to underscore that isn't selfish. It's actually a sacred act.
The third promise comes from Isaiah 41:10, and it says, Do not fear. I am with you. Do not be anxious. I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. It says, it tells us, don't fear. It says, do not be anxious. And he's promising to strengthen us and he's promising he will help us. So this promise is particularly powerful when you're worrying about your children's future. When [00:06:00] you're facing financial pressures, when you're dealing with your own health concerns, when you're navigating challenging family dynamics. This, these are examples when you definitely want to call on this promise.
The fourth promise is found in 2nd Corinthians chapter 12, verse 9, and it says, My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness. As moms, we often feel pressure to be perfect. This was my nemesis of that very kind of first quarter of time so far for me of being a mom. And that is this pressure to have it all together.
Second Corinthians reminds us that it's actually in our imperfection that God's grace will then shine through. So this is the kind of situation that's taking place where you would want to remember this promise when you lose your patience, okay? [00:07:00] You want that's when you want to call on this promise to remember, right?
That his power is made perfect in your weakness. And yeah, we all. We're weak humans and we lose our patience sometimes. We also want to remember this problem when our house is a mess, when dinner is takeout again, or maybe when you've even missed an important like school event or deadline or just something, you know, slipped your mind that about school.
You want to call on this. My grace is sufficient for you for power is made perfect. in weakness. I'm so reminding my clients all the time about what would it look like in this situation if you were, could give yourself grace? Because I know God is offering it, and he's offering it in right here in this promise.
And it's just that we forget. That's all that's happening. That's not something wrong with you. It's not something to fix. [00:08:00] It's just the human way. We forget and we need reminded, which is why I love when I have my weekly sessions with my coaching. It's literally, sometimes it's a, nothing's gone wrong. They just need reminding.
Okay. The fifth promise comes from Jeremiah 29:11 for I know well the plans I have in mind for you, plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. So this promise helps us remember that even when things don't go as planned, which happens often in our busy mom life, right, still, God has a greater purpose. And This promise is especially comforting during a season of transition or a season of just uncertainty around your children.
Okay, I'm just going to recap these promises. The first promise is Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And I want to word that [00:09:00] in, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
Okay. The second promise is found in Matthew 11:28 and it says, come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. The third promise comes from Isaiah 41:10. Do not fear. I am with you. Do not be anxious. I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
The fourth promise is found in 2 Corinthians 12:9. It says, My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness. And the fifth promise comes from Jeremiah 29:11 for I know well, the plans I have in mind for you plans for your welfare and not for woe. So as to give you a future of hope, right? And you want to use that fifth one when things don't go as planned.
Okay, this is the important part. It's one thing to just [00:10:00] hear what I have to say to you, but I want you to actually create more peace of mind in your life. It is the purpose and mission of this podcast, because when you mama feel more peace of mind.
You will then be able to take action and create situations for yourself and experience for yourself that will benefit you and your family, which then spills over into your community and into the world. So I want to share now some practical ways you can keep these promises at the forefront of your mind.
Number one, I want you to write your favorite promise on a note card. And I want you to put it where you'll see it often. Maybe that's by your coffee maker. Maybe it's in your bathroom mirror. For me, it would be right here on my desk. Number two, I want you to set reminders on your phone with these promises as an alert message.
I love this one. When it pops up during a challenging moment, [00:11:00] it's like you have like this divine appointment. I want to say that this is that one that I personally implement. It is so fun. You, you, you will set these reminders. Like, for instance, right now I am working on a health goal and working with a group of beautiful mamas to increase our physical well being.
And every morning that I am you know, my brain fights me about wanting to work out. I know around the time I'm going to, so I've, you've set this reminder on your phone that has the, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And yes, my brain will forget. And then every morning, imagine the reminder coming up on your phone and it says, it says, you can do all things.
Do you think in that moment going to those promises and it's going to like, direct your brain to think about it, and that could be and is the, that little boost you needed to be like, [00:12:00] yes, I can do this. This is hard, but you can strengthen me because working out my body and getting healthy is important to you right now.
Right? I just, I love this number two practical way to keep this promise at your forefront. Okay. And number three, which Maybe, maybe another one of these becomes your favorite. Number three is to share these promises with your children. When they see you living by faith, when you even speak them, or if they're troubled and you know one of these promises and can offer it to them, it then becomes part of their foundation too. So share the promises with your children.
Number four a God promise journal where you record times when you've seen these promises fulfilled in your life. It will then build your faith to look back on God's faithfulness. You know, I do this already when any one of my moms or [00:13:00] my, yeah, one of my clients tells me a win.
When they come back and say, I need to tell you this win that happened, or I want to celebrate that, you know, this happened, or I use this tool or what we've been learning. Let me tell you what happened and how I was able to stay in this like calm, powerful place. I keep a running tab of wins because if I don't write them down, then I do forget.
I forget. My brain will try and tell me, Oh, you're not helping anyone. Oh, you should, you know, don't put all this effort because it's not really, you know, helping. And I'm like, Oh, yeah, wait a minute. Let me remember that there is proof that I've written down that There are wins happening. And if you are, if you were somebody who gets my regular newsletter, if you're not, make sure you jump onto my website and sign up to be on my weekly newsletters.
You don't want to miss out. I tell you about the podcast of the week, [00:14:00] like the The one you're listening to now, but I also have, I share in there some, you know, other information that will help in your busy mom life, but at the, at the bottom, I started putting client wins. And so this is kind of like how I keep record, but it is to be able to have me be remind myself.
That this works and what I'm doing matters and it's impactful. So I'm asking you to create a promise journal where you're going to record the times when you see and call upon these promises and they help you and it works and you put it down and seeing them fulfilled in your life will build on your faith and you'll be able to just have this like more strong foundation of knowing like God's faithfulness is bountiful.
And the last tactic or practical way I want you to say you can keep these promises at the forefront of your mind is to join or create a mom's group [00:15:00] where it puts you into a place where you can encourage another mom with one of these. I mean, sharing what you are learning here with another mom, it really just is this ripple effect that I think is so powerful that God does when he transforms one person like he did me and how that now leads to me not keeping this to myself, but sharing it with somebody else.
And you could do the same thing because whenever I am trying to help you all, it helps me too. It is those I'm reminding myself of everything that I speak of and teach here on the podcast. Okay, everyone, remember, these aren't just nice words. Scriptures, they're not just nice sentences. They're promises from God.
Directly from the creator of the universe to you, his beloved child, his beloved daughter. When you're feeling overwhelmed, when you're doubting yourself, when you're worried about your [00:16:00] children, these promises can become your anchors. And if you would like support.
