Welcome to the Peaceful Mind Podcast, a place for creating the peace of mind you need to be the best mom you were created by God to be. If you want to bring more balance, more joy, and more peace to your motherhood, this is the place for you. I'm your host, Certified Life Coach at Catholic Mom, Danielle Thienel.
In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, let's get started.
Hey my beautiful listeners. I want to start out today with just a little bit of a story or an experience that I had not really sure how many years ago it was and not that that even matters, but as a practicing Catholic, I attended mass one time and the [00:01:00] priest was at the podium and about to say his sermon, or actually he was saying the, you know, the homily.
And this is what he said, and I can repeat it back verbatim of what this homily was. I know that you're on pins and needles because, and this sounds super impressive, right? That I have memorized a whole homily that a priest gave and that I'm going to tell it to you now.
And here it is. He said, Jesus loves you very, very much. And that was it. He then left the microphone and went back to continue the rest of the mass.
Now the reason I share this with you today is not that I am going to give you an episode today that is only a one liner like that, but it is to explain why this episode will be [00:02:00] pretty succinct and short. And that is because I want to keep it simple, just like Father kept that homily simple, because of the impact that that short, sweet, to the point kind of gave me, I mean, obviously it's years past and I'm still thinking about it, talking about it.
And I remember the kind of shock and awe that the audience the audience, all of us, you know, the congregation what we were feeling. I mean, we kind of looked, I remember I looked at my husband and, And everybody's just, there's a little bit of chuckling but it was like that kind of jaw open, like, that's it?
Like, wow, like, this is gonna be a quick, short mass. But also, there were thoughts like, oh yeah, like, I need to be reminded of that. I needed to hear that. What is that [00:03:00] mean and the impact if I, if I focus on that and carry that with me that Jesus loves me so much, like what perspective did that give me that day by leaning back into and focusing on that one most important aspect.
So I share this to kind of set up a little bit for what I want to do on this episode that is entitled, How to Become Who God Designed You to Be. Because this is the work I do with moms of faith, us Christians that are just looking to be good moms to just have some balance in all that we are juggling and to enjoy life, to feel like we're on top of things to do something fun or create goals [00:04:00] instead of always being exhausted and fighting for air and feeling always behind and not on top of things and questioning ourselves and and wondering how others do it so perfectly.
I just want to refocus that the work that I do with my clients and how I'm helping all of you listeners to have more peace of mind because if you do, then you will move forward more easily, efficiently, succinctly into showing up as the person that God created and designed you to be.
So, I just want to give you one simple action that I know is the path, is the key, is the way to being and becoming the person God designed you to be. And I'm going to just offer you this one thing, [00:05:00] just like the simplicity of Father offering his homily with the simple words of Jesus loves you very, very much.
And that is that being transformed into the one that God designed you to be, requires this one thing, it requires blocks of time set aside for communion with him. Okay. My priest didn't even repeat his twice. He just said it once and walked away. And I have a little trouble doing that because I want to give you a little more, but I will repeat it for effect for it to sink over for you to just think about that.
Okay, so this episode is to, to tell you how to become who God designed you to be. And the [00:06:00] answer to the how, again, is it, is you setting aside blocks of time on a, not just once, but a continue, continual basis to commune with him. That's the answer. That's how you become who God designed you to be. And let me just tell you about a few of the benefits that come when you do set time aside and commune with him on a regular basis.
And so just notice how if you were to reorder your life to make this being a priority, then all of those other goals that we go after as far as our home and our relationships and our time and our money and all the physical well being goals that we have and all of that, it gets ordered. It gets more clear. It gets easier when you have [00:07:00] this first and foremost conversation, in place.
And here are the benefits. First of all, when you regularly commune with him, when you set aside specific time to be with him, talk with him, pray to him, it's also if you are of the same faith as me, if you are Catholic, that would look like regular mass, adoration, sacraments, then this is what will take place.
You will get emotional and physical healing that will come through setting aside time blocks to commune with him. What you also will get is you will get the experience of nearness to God. That time that you're communing, that time that you are silent, that you are listening, that you are waiting, talking to him, asking him for [00:08:00] things, praying on other's behalf, just sitting, like if it's an adoration, just sitting, looking, being there, and you have dedicated specific time for this, then you will strengthen.
And we need faith to overcome fear because it is mostly fear that keeps us from becoming the one who God created us to be. And this is fear is kind of underlining in a lot of negative emotions that we have, right? It may show up as stress, but really underlining it's a fear. of not being good enough or fear of not getting everything done that I want.
And then that shows up like stress and then stress has us yelling at the kids and X, Y, Z. So best thing to combat all of that is with faith. [00:09:00] And when we are putting our mind towards thoughts that increase our faith, we will strengthen. And that happens when we are setting aside time to commune with God.
And when we do so, we become who God designed us to be because we open ourself up to receive many blessings. There are so many that he is, is ready to give to us, but he's waiting. He's waiting because we're just, we're busy and we're going about our life and we're thinking about these earthly things and we're just doing, doing, doing, doing.
And he's like, Hey. I've got this like a whole thing of blessings if you want them, but you gotta come and get them. And so when you set aside time to commune with him, that is when he will give them out to you.
And the [00:10:00] last benefit I want to bring to your attention is that when you put aside blocks of time to commune with the Lord on a regular basis you kind of, I guess, the phrase that's coming to my mind is kind of cleanse yourself for the Spirit, for the Holy Spirit to do what it is there to help us with. And that is to order our days, to control our thoughts, and to guide us to continuous peace.
So all of these benefits, I think it was like five or six of them, are at our disposal when we become who God created us to be. And that happens when we simply decide to have regular time blocks of communing with him. And that is the simple message. It's [00:11:00] not as simple as how my priest laid it out to me, but I feel like simple enough that I just want you to chew on it.
I want you to think about it. I want you to let it just kind of lay on it . Am I doing that? Do I want to make that something I do more of and if so what is the simplest easiest way I could start doing that? What sounds kind of fun or exciting? What kind of lights you up when you think?
Is it something that you're already doing? And maybe what I've presented here has you looking at it in a different way, but that is the way to become who God created you to be, who he designed you specially to be. We want to set aside some of our time to commune with [00:12:00] him. And of course, I know that the direct result will also be more peace of mind for you, which is always what I am helping you with here on the podcast.
