In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, let's get started. Hello, beautiful souls. Welcome back to the peaceful mind podcast. I'm your host, Danielle. And today's episode has a little bit of my own husband's input too, which is so fun. Becoming a CEO of your life, becoming a chief executive officer of your life.
I am always wanting to help moms take charge of their life and create it and design it themselves. Because, I know that when we don't take care of our lives with intention and purpose, that life will throw us around. That every day we could have something new, a new circumstance or situation that we are met with.
And the way that I myself use to explain this analogy is With the Cyclone Mom method, just thinking about the swirl of a storm and all that we are juggling and have going on, and then you throw in things that you weren't expecting, like losing a job, getting a diagnosis, getting a bill you weren't expected, kids acting in a way that you don't want them to, and we want to be the calm center of that storm because that is where our power lies as moms.
And today's episode takes that in a way that maybe you relate to and that is to be the chief executive officer, to become the CEO of your life. That's also becoming the calm in control and confident mom that you want to be. And I, I went to my husband. Because he is a CEO and I wanted him to be able to lay out to me what he saw was at least his like top five main objectives.
And on today's episode, we are going to see how that relates to us as a mom. And I did ask him if he wanted to come on with me, but he graciously declined. Which is totally okay because he's now out there making lunch for me and He provided me with a great set of points to walk you through so it's all good So this is where I want to start.
I want you to imagine for a moment being a CEO It sounds a little intimidating right for or for at least for me it does but what if I told you and I just want to do a caveat because the idea of the corporate world, there's nothing about that that is attractive to me at my life at this time. But what if I told you that as a mom, you are already doing the job of a CEO every single day?
Well, today we're going to draw on the parallels between those two, between your everyday tasks as a mom. And the responsibilities of a CEO. So this is where I want to start. I've got five points that again, provided by my husband as a CEO himself, that he says are the main things that he feel is his job.
And I want to give you those five things and just have you be able to ponder and ask yourself, Is that what I'm doing in my life right now? How, is there, is there a gap where this is one of the pillars of a CEO that maybe I'm not doing and, and I also want you to see and recognize and celebrate how you are already doing in this year, in your life.
So the first thing that a CEO does is he, he or she determines the strategy. So, my husband said that some of the things under this category for him is that he determines what clients they seek, what the markets are telling him, what not to do, what are his offerings, what do they need to build. And one of the most important I think he mentioned is he decides what his company's mission is that comes through a mission statement.
He's also responsible for creating a company culture where everyone feels part of the team who feels seen and heard and overall like a safe place and a place for the people in it to thrive. So just as a CEO determines the strategy for a company's success, you mom determined the strategy for your family.
And that includes your family's. Daily routines, your values, the spiritual journey, and not only the family. In today's episode, I want you to see that I'm kind of looking at you being the CEO of your own life, like for you personally taking charge of your life. And then when I say that I'm thinking about taking charge of your, your mental wellbeing, your emotional wellbeing, your physical wellbeing, and your spiritual wellbeing.
And so when we are talking about or thinking about how you are determining the strategy for your own daily routines, your own values, your own spirit, spiritual journey, but also I recognize as moms, we are doing that for our, our kids. And we are an example for our spouse as well. And really our extended family and circles and friends and people who we are around most on a daily basis.
So, what does this look like if you are determining your, your own your own strategy for your life or your family? So, it may look like mapping out your family's yearly goals. Like a CEO you could chart out the spiritual, academic, personal growth objectives maybe for each child. Whether you're planning family prayers, if you're balancing school schedules, setting up a budget, it's all very strategic.
And it's all instrumental to the path that your family takes. So CEOs, they shape the future of the company by setting a clear strategy. And as moms, you're setting the compass direction for your family too. And I just want to speak a little bit to those There's two things I mentioned when determining strategy about a mission statement that each company has.
Like, what is your mission statement for where you are in your life right now for your stage of motherhood? What's your mission? This is an exercise that I take you through in, I believe it's the first module of my divine time. time management solution course that I have and we talk a lot about creating a mission statement and Really setting it for what that is.
And so then it helps guide you it like it's like the compass it gives you direction for your family and CEOs do this and when you're the CEO of your life You will be doing this too. And then I want to just speak to that company culture Right? When you, when you're someone who maybe is like a new employee or you go into a company, it's like, what kind of culture is that?
What kind of environment? How does it make you feel? Do you feel like you're part of the team, like you're needed, wanted, that somebody will listen to you if you have objections to what's going on? Are you being heard? Do they have a lot of fun? Are they like, do you take You know, add some fun into the seriousness that's happening.
So I just want you to ponder that. If you are the CEO of your life and your family's life, what kind of environment and culture are you setting up for your kids to thrive? So here's some questions to ponder that might help you in this first step of determining strategy. First of all, I want you to ask yourself if you've ever stopped.
And ask yourself, what are the strategies you use in your daily life? And what routines have you put in place? And how do you decide the values you want to instill in your children? And are you consciously making choices that are aligned with the future that you envision for your family? Is there anything about those current strategies or routines or values that you want to instill are That you want to change or get started on.
And that's what I want you to ask yourself when it comes to the first step to take charge of your life and be the CEO of your life, which is to determine with purpose and intention your strategy. Okay, number two is that CEOs hire and lead a team. Now, we aren't hiring as moms in the traditional sense.
Well, maybe we are a little bit. If there is, you know, some kind of caretaker, or maybe some house cleaning services, or whatever you're exchanging money for as far as hiring. But I want you to also think about hiring and leading a team as how we choose friends, as how we choose. Our caregivers, like I mentioned, or even hiring, like the activities for our children, right?
Because sometimes an activity could be, well, you could talk about piano lessons or joining a soccer team. And then those are the people that we're bringing into our village to be an influence on our children. So they, we know that they're part of the team. It takes to raise these children. And in the corporate world, CEOs choose their team members carefully.
And in family life, it's also about choosing the right influences and support systems too. So think about the influences that you allow around your family. How do you decide which activities or groups your family engages in? When was the last time you evaluated the circle of friends or caregivers that surround you and your children and your family?
And when you take a look at the team that you have helping you, are they propelling your family towards growth? Like a CEO picking the right employees, you're choosing the best influences on yourself. And your family and you are choosing the opportunities for yourself and your family and you want to be just checking that you are helping your family thrive and helping yourself thrive with the team that you have surrounding you.
Okay, number three to become the CEO of your life is setting benchmarks and goals. CEOs. Set tangible goals and as moms, we're setting benchmarks to both big and small all the time. So, for instance, like in my faith, it could be something as simple as teaching my toddler to pray the Hail Mary or as significant as guiding my teenagers toward their confirmation and beyond.
But when it comes to setting benchmarks and goals for your life, I first want, I tell this to my moms and clients all the time, and it's actually very huge part of my process to help you in your life because again, referring back to my process, my method, the Cyclone Mom method, step number two is to clarify your goals.
That we want to have goals and benchmarks in our life because one of how our brain operates at its best with a focus kind of target and two, it's just a way to keep ourselves like on a path and it causes us to pause and reflect and to choose on purpose. What it is that we want our future to look like, and you can really thrive right when you hit milestones.
So what goals have you set for your family recently? Maybe it's spiritual growth, educational achievements, or personal development, but how do you track progress? And more importantly, how do you celebrate? The next step to becoming the CEO of your life is to evaluate your progress and make any necessary changes.
No CEO stays static. They check in, they evaluate and they adapt. Think about how you might adjust bedtime routines when seasons change or reevaluate a parenting strategy that's not working. Adaptability is key. Adaptability is a trait of a successful CEO because they evaluate and pivot whenever needed.
And then they also have accountability for this and accountability for themselves is very key as well. So who do you have helping you stay accountable? Are you someone who adapts when you find out that Some of where you are with the data that you've gathered or evaluated your life, right? So, for us moms, we want to be looking and staying on top of how we are doing with our goals, with our health, just in general, the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritually.
How are we staying accountable to these goals? And when we are evaluating and finding out like, how is it working? What, what, what's the data from doing these things? And are we then pivoting? And are we keeping ourself on track? And this is where I just give you my personal answer to the evaluating, holding ourselves accountable, adapting.
This is what I get personally with my coach. We, we actually set goals together and then we do this step of as we're going along and making progress, we evaluate and we definitely pivot. We make changes and then she holds me accountable. Then I know what I said that I wanted, especially if things are getting hard.
I have someone who is going to keep me on track and many CEOs have someone that actually help them too. It does. They're just not at the top and that's where it stops. And I doubt you would find many who say that many CEOs say that they don't have an executive coach themselves or. At least a mentor and for sure in order to even get to the position that they're in they had guidance, support, accountability, they pivoted, they adapted, they were someone who kept evaluating how things were going and that's how they got to their quote high position from others that made it possible for them to get there too.
So moms are no different. I want you to be able to evaluate either yourself or have someone outside help you along. Having a coach can definitely help you take charge of your life and help you to lead your family like you want to be leading them. So adaptability, evaluation and adaptability is a trait of a successful CEO.
And so I want to ask you. How often do you check in on yourself with how, like, the strategies that you're working? Like, how are they going? What results have you brought in for yourself and for your family? And when things aren't going as planned in your, let's say, family dynamics, then how do you adapt?
Do you seek feedback from your children or spouse? And then, Do you make beneficial changes going forward? Okay, the last step that I want to offer you on how to take charge of your life become a CEO of your life and That is and again I got these five from CEO who what he thinks are the most important pillars as his job and for him He said this last one, he has to report to the board of directors, but again, what we're doing today is we're seeing how this transfers and is relatable to us as moms.
And my own mission and focus is towards faith fueled, faithful, faith filled moms, whether Catholic or Christian. And so I want to offer today. That we also need to report to the board of directors to take charge of our life. But as a CEO reports to a board of directors, which that doesn't really relate to us as moms being in charge of our lives.
But what does is we are reporting back to the ultimate board, God. In this unique spin, this means checking in with God. With Christ, our ultimate guide and director, we do this through prayer, reflection, the sacraments we're continually checking in and like a CEO being accountable for their decisions. We stand before God, understanding that every choice we make that we want them to be in alignment with his will.
So how are you currently ensuring that you're aligning with God's vision for yourself and for your family? When was the last time that you reported in to him and sought out guidance or clarity through prayer? Do you find moments of introspection to ensure that you're on the path that he's laid out for you?
Just wonderful questions to ponder as we see that there is these five ways that are very similar to becoming or to being a CEO that we can also use to help guide us being the one who is designing and taking charge and creating the life that we want to live. And so just to recap those. Five steps. The first one is to determine strategy.
The second one is to hire and lead a team. The third is to set benchmarks and goals. The fourth is to evaluate progress and make necessary changes. And the fifth one is to report to the board of directors. So in essence, dear mamas, remember this, that God has entrusted you with the most vital role. And while it might not come with stock options or a corner office, being the CEO of your life and your family's life is a divine assignment.
So I hope you leave this time with me today to see that designing your life on purpose.
Number one is to be chief executive officer over your life and over yourself when you feel life is pushing you around or you are being pushed around by all that there is in this earthly experience for us, then you are not at your most capacity for joy or happiness. And you're definitely not as effective as a mom.
But when you become the supervisor of your life, there is no joy in the world equal to it, or to the excitement and satisfaction you will feel. So dear mamas, while the world might not label you as CEO, in the eyes of God and your families, you're the guiding force. You set the pace, the tone, and the direction.
