===
You are listening to episode 106 of the peaceful mind podcast.
Welcome to the peaceful mind podcast, a place for creating the peace of mind. You need to be the best mom you are created by God to be. If you wanna bring more balance, more joy and more peace to your motherhood, this is the place for you. I'm your host certified life coach at Catholic mom, Danielle Thienel. In the name of the father of the son and of the holy spirit.
Let's get started.
Well, hello, beautiful mamas. How are you? I am so glad. You've decided to spend some of your time with me today and I think it's gonna be so well worth it because this message is so important today. We're gonna talk about how to live your purpose as a life coach. You can imagine that when. When people come to me when they are struggling or have a challenge, or they just know they have some untapped potential inside of them.
This is where as a coach, I can be there to support, give you accountability and offer you the tools that you need to, to get refocused, to get, you know, some what we would call purpose back. But here's the thing. A lot of you. I just need to find my purpose or you come at a certain stage in your life.
Maybe like the one I'm in right now, right where my. Older kids are off in college and I still do have one at home, but things are different, right? It's different when they start to leave your home and the kids grow up and you sort of lose, maybe is the word that I hear your sense of purpose, because motherhood has been such your focus or let's say you were in a job or a career, and then you've decided to stay home and raise your kids.
And then you feel. Of a sense of purpose. Not that motherhood doesn't give that to you, but let's just face it sometimes. Can still be a mom and have a house full of kids and be helping, but still feel lost or not, or that we don't have the purpose or fulfillment. And then there's guilt there too. Right?
Because we think, oh, I should feel fulfilled. I, I dreamed about having these babies. I finally have them and here I am and we can feel blah, and then we can feel guilty that we're not in this like amazing euphoric state all the time. Let me circle back and, and just say that there are a lot of people out there who believe that they need to find their purpose, that they don't feel purposeful, that they don't feel fulfilled.
And I just want you to know if that's the way you feel you're not alone, but today's episode is it comes from a totally different. But it's a true one. It's one where our purpose is not outside of us. It's not a treasure to be found. It's already a treasure within. And so I wanna start out by just saying, what is a purpose?
A purpose is define to find as the reason something exists and your purpose that you're looking for, that you wanna find that you wanna know about. It's just that it's the reason why you exist. And then you can say, okay, well, what is that reason? And I will just tell you to compare it to a simple let's.
I'm gonna give you three examples. I'm gonna give you a refrigerator, right? Why does a refrigerator exist? Well, it exists because someone had the idea that we needed to keep our food cold. So it would last longer and not spoil. So then let's take the PTO, the parent teacher organization. Why does it exist?
What is its purpose? Its purpose was to help communication between parents and teachers. So there was a lack of communication and someone said, we need to put something into place so that we can communicate better between parents and teachers. And then voila. The parent teacher association now exists.
That's what its purpose is. And so I just want you to take a moment and kind of contemplate that question. You weren't here. And then now you are, God had the idea that he wanted you for his purpose. And so then you exist. So now that is also your purpose, your purpose, why you exist is you exist. Just to live this human life.
That's right. Your brain will tell you that it doesn't know why you're here and that you better figure it out or else your life will be a waste. If you don't find your purpose. And then it tells you that it better be something good or it better help the planet or the less fortunate. And we will look to other people.
Those that we admire. Right. And we will say let's for instance, mother Teresa. And we will look at her and say, oh, she definitely fulfilled her life purpose because she has changed the, how the world sees about taking care of the hungry and the poor. And when we look at people like that in not an inspiration way to see, is that something that I would like to do as well, but we use it against ourselves saying, well, I'm pretty sure that I'm failing at life.
I'm doing it wrong because I'm not doing that amazing thing that that other person is doing, where they're helping the planet and the less fortunate. But when you stop looking outside of yourself and you go within. You then can ask and answer the question for yourself. What is my purpose? And when you know that the reason for existing is just to exist, that you don't have to do anything to fulfill your purpose in life, that your life is your purpose, right?
God created you. You exist. So that purpose has already been fulfilled. You are already purposeful. You already are purposeful. Did you hear me say that? So for however many years, you've been alive on this earth. You have been living out your purpose. Being alive is enough. You don't have to be better. You don't have to save the planet.
Your purpose is humanness. And so then you'll say, okay, Danielle, I, I, I, can I hear you? I really feel that. I mean, because I hope you do. I know that when I first learned it, my mind was blown open, but my heart felt this, like this deep knowing like, yes, I am purposeful because God created me. But then once you realize that you'll be like, okay, I filled my purpose.
So now what now? What do I do now? Do I just do nothing the rest of my life since I've fulfilled my purpose. And I say to you, no, now that you know, your purpose has been to live on this earth and you've been doing it for years. Well done. Good job you now, I want you to answer this question. What will I do with my time?
So I'm already. Fulfilled my purpose because I exist simply because I exist, but I am here on earth for hopefully a long time, but we never know. But now you just answer that question. What will I do with my time? Because to God, you are already a hundred percent worthy. You're already a hundred percent complete.
You don't have to be better. You don't have to be smart. You can't matter any more than you already do. So we are not looking for a purpose outside of us to make us matter even more because it's impossible. You already matter. Okay. And so you just answer what will make your experience while on earth, more fun and meaningful to you.
And once you realize that there's nothing that you have to. And that your entire life can be about what you want to do. You will then choose a purpose that matters to you. And so I say, choose, choose what your purpose is. It's not something out there to go find and grab, and then have choose today. Where are you in your motherhood?
What stage are you in? Just right now in your present life? What do you. Your purpose to be, we get to define it. Now, is this good news or bad news for you that you have to make this decision? Because I know that there's some of us that are like, oh, I don't wanna have to choose because that's too hard. But I think this is such great news.
I don't have to do any searching anymore. I don't have to believe that it's something that I'll eventually find. I just get to decide right now. I think it's the best news ever, because it gives you the control. You get to make the decision you want to be your purpose. And I know that we before were thinking that the requirement for our purpose was that it had to contribute in some way that we had to be able to like, create something like have a very tangible result.
Maybe your pur you would think in your purpose was to write a book or something like that. Or you have to like evolve humankind in some way that this would be hugely powerful. And purposeful if you created and contributed and evolved the world, somehow that this would make a really good purpose, but guess.
It's the opposite you actually define for yourself. You just choose and pick what you want your purpose to be. And it doesn't have to be something that stays your purpose forever and ever. It's just where you are right now in life. What do you want it to be today and start living from that and then guess what, when you do.
You know what you'll do, you will create, you will contribute and you will evolve. You'll evolve yourself, you'll evolve your family, maybe your community and maybe the world. But it doesn't matter because if we're all just choosing our own purpose and living it out, that in itself changes the world collectively.
So I'm gonna use myself as an example. So right now in my life, I'm a coach. Okay. And then yes, I am a, I am a coach from. The standpoint that this is my job, but if it's also my purpose and the way I define a coach is that I'm a facilitator who inspires others to take action. So see how, if I decide that my purpose is that I wanna be somebody who inspires other to take action to better their lives.
Then I can do that no matter where I am interacting in my own life. I just have to be that in order to fulfill my purpose. Yes, it's definitely gonna be more obvious if I'm coaching someone in my business and I'm facilitating and helping them live out a life that they want to. But how can I also do that as a mom?
I do that by helping and inspiring my kids to take action. And then what if it's with my parents or friends at church or. Meeting with girlfriends. I'm still fulfilling my purpose because even though I'm not in a, like a business transaction sort of relationship, I am still being. The coach. So who I need to be is I need to be a teacher.
I need to be someone who coaches themselves. I need to be someone who is courageous and a risk taker and who will fail and who will love themselves and others unconditionally, see, these are supportive of my one defined purpose of facilitating others to move to action, inspiring them. To better their lives.
And so no matter what your job is, or no matter what your life circumstances are, you get to be the person who fulfills their purpose. The one that you've chosen and you do that, not by some particular, um, employment, but you get to live out and be that person all the time. And then when you are being that person, you.
You'll know it and you'll already know what to do next because the doing comes from the being. When, you know it next you'll decide what to do. So just pick one area right now of your life to focus on first, decide what your purpose is, and then just apply it to, you can see how it will work across all areas of your life, your job, your home life, your career, your volunteer life.
And so you can see how can you be living out those different sections of your life. All under the umbrella of this one purpose, make a list of big and little things that you would need to do to make this happen. Just get to work on your purpose because once you define it, that will give you the structure and the parameter of how you're going to, you're gonna live from that purpose and living your purpose will be hard at times.
But know that in this earthly life that we, we can't escape the hard it's part of it. We can't escape hard ever. So yeah, it, our, our, our purpose, isn't gonna be rainbows and daisies all the time, but it is worth it to bring yourself back to this, what you have decided purposely as being your purpose. So to sum everything up, it goes something like this, you are already purposeful, your purpose has been fulfilled because you exist.
And then now that you know that. You get to decide how you wanna spend the rest of your time, your time here on earth. And that is you choosing what your purpose is and then living it out. So I hope that this episode brought you two things, a little bit of relief to know that you no longer have to go hunting for your purpose, that it's already been fulfill.
And then secondly, I hope you're empowered to know that you get to choose, just decide today what sounds fun and meaningful to you to be your purpose, and then go about being that and living that. Out in all the areas of your life. And if you want my personal help to get more clarity around this subject, then sign up for a free peace strategy call and I will get you the help that you need.
