3 Secrets About Emotional Wellness
Emotional wellness is something we are all striving for, but sometimes we misunderstand what it takes to truly achieve it.
Here are three secrets I've discovered about true emotional wellness.
1 - The goal of life is not to be happy all the time.
The truth is that to lead a full, robust life and have a complete earthly experience, you actually want to feel all kinds of emotions. When life presents a sad or difficult situation, we get to take charge of our emotional wellness by choosing how we want to feel.
There will be times when you want to feel sad, disappointed, hurt, or nervous. The key is recognizing that you are creating those feelings and knowing that you can choose to change your thoughts and get to the other side.
2 - Prioritizing yourself is not selfish.
Actually, to be able to access that deep belief that you are a great mom, a good person, and a worthy child of God, you must take care of yourself.
When you are emotionally drained, you won’t be able to feel and give love to the people in your life and enjoy all that you are creating. You won’t be able to show up as the person you want to be. Allowing yourself time to fill back up your emotional reserves is one of the least selfish things you can do!
3 - You are responsible for all of your emotions.
If you find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, guilty, or hurt, blaming it on things outside of you won’t be beneficial. You are the only one who is responsible for how you feel because you are choosing what you are thinking.
But here’s the good news, the joy and peace you feel are also not caused by any outside circumstances. You feel joy and peace because of your thoughts.
It's up to you, but you don't have to do it alone!
When you think about it from this frame of mind, your emotional wellness is completely in your hands. You get to create the level of wellness you desire at any time.
It’s all up to you. Apply your personal power so your can love your life and live it in a way that serves you and the whole world.
